Source and original licence

To my knowledge, all these icons are freely usable either under GNU GPL, LGPL licence, or Creative Commons. If this were not the case, please, let me know to stop using them. Procedence and original license is as follows:

Original - Original artwork done by myself for LenMus project. I release them under GNU GPL licence and under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, you can choose the one you prefer for the intended usage.
Zaitseff - These icons where taken or derived from John Zaitseff's icons at www.zap.org.au. According to what is said there, these icons are released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Ximian - These icons are just taken or derived from those available in the Ximian collection. Novell, who retains the copyright, has released these icons under the LGPL license. This means that you can use the icons in your programs free of charge. If you want to fork the icons into your own icon collection, you need to retain the license and the original copyrights, but from there you're free to do what you want.
eMule - These icons are taken or derived from eMule project icons. eMule is a GNU GPL project so I assume that its icons are also available under GNU GPL.
GNOME - These icons are taken or derived from the GNOME project, Tango theme. These icons are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license.
KDE - These icons are taken or derived from the KDE project. These icons are released under the GNU GPL license.
Open Clipart - These icons are taken or derived from the Open Clip Art Libary project. These icons are released under the Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication license.

License

All LenMus original artwork, as above identified, is released under the GNU GPL licence and under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. You can choose the one you prefer for the intended usage.

For the other icons its original licence aplies.

LenMus icons' naming rules and format

PNG, XPM and SVG are the freedesktop.org recommended bitmap formats for icons. As SVG is for vectorized icons and XPM is supported only due to backwards compability reasons, LenMus icons will be in PNG format.

In the LenMus program each icon/bitmap must have its own name and this name must identify the icon purpose and use, and not the particular image the icon contains. If the same image is used for two purposes/tools then there will be two icons with the same image but with different name.

Icon name is formed by three parts: [usage]_[name]_[size].png

[size] can be 16, 24 or 32, refering to 16x16, 24x24 or 32x32, respectively. [name] is the icon's name. And [usage] refers to where is it used in LenMus program, as follows:
